The biggest announcement in ConvertKit's history

Hey Reader,

Last week, I teased we had a huge announcement coming.

On Thursday, I finally came clean: we’re setting a new direction for ConvertKit that includes:

  • An app store where any developer or platform can extend ConvertKit’s functionality
  • A big focus on reporting and scalability for professional creators
  • A new newsletter free plan for up to 10,000 subscribers that includes a basic automation and creator network
  • A new site builder with 8 templates powered by Creator Profile

...oh, and we’re wrapping all of this up in a new rebrand.

ConvertKit is becoming Kit

ConvertKit as a name focuses on the technical thing we help you do.

But the brand we’ve built is really about:

  • Connection to creators
  • Helping them earn a living
  • Telling their stories

Kit checks all those boxes and gives us a great starting point for building a new brand.

It allows us to stay connected to our 11+ years of experience serving creators.

Learn more at Kit.com.

But we’re also doing something unique:

Rather than hiding the process, we’re rebranding in public.

In the coming months, we’re releasing an entire documentary series that takes you behind the scenes of our rebrand process.

You’ll see the thought and decisions behind everything.

When I posted about all of this on social, we lead with the rebrand, so people thought that was the big announcement.

But really it’s that we are building the operating system for creators who mean business.

We do so much more than help creators convert. We help them connect, grow, launch, send, create, automate, and earn. It’s time to grow the brand to encompass all of that.

Six months ago, we were lucky enough to acquire Kit.com for a great price (which unfortunately I can’t disclose). More recently, we bought Kit.co and all of their related assets. That gave us everything we needed to upgrade to this new brand.

Polls

Another great new feature we added is Polls. You can now create polls directly from the email editor. Engage with subscribers and learn more to better segment your list & increase click through rate.

These features and a new brand have been on my dream list for so long. But there’s one more thing I’ve always wanted to do but never had the chance—until now…

Kit Studios

We launched podcast and video studio for all customers to use for free.

This is a brand new podcast studio in downtown Boise, Idaho. It’s five studios all with a unique look. Three are set up for in-person podcast interviews, two are for recording courses or remote podcasts.

Creating high-quality content is so hard—especially in a home studio. Now, creators can walk in and, with the press of a button, record high-quality footage for whatever they need.

I knew Kit Studios was a novel idea, but I didn’t realize just how strong the reaction would be. Creators are saying they’d fly across the country to use this since it’s cheaper (including hotel, flights, etc) and higher quality than hiring their own film crew.

What do you think?

Let’s wrap this up with one more poll:

After you vote in the polls, hit reply to let me know what you think.

I’m so excited to build Kit with you over the next decade!

Have a great week!

Hi Reader, One benefit of founding ConvertKit (soon to be Kit) is I get a front row seat to what’s working for the most successful creators. There are so many different kinds of creator businesses and various strategies people use to grow, but there’s one thing they all have in common: Successful creators don't go on this journey alone. I’ve yet to see any successful creator “make it” without connecting and collaborating with others in their space. It’s certainly true in my journey as well....

Hey Reader, Have you been considering building a personal brand but never seem to get around to it? Part of the reason may just be that it feels like too much work. But it may also be because you: Lack clarity - What will your brand even be about? Procrastinate - Will you get around to doing it next year? Fear being criticized - What will other people think of you? Don’t have enough time - Will you ever get a spare moment? Want everything to be perfect - Will things ever be good enough? If...

Hi Reader, As a natural introvert, I was someone who went to conferences and talked to no one. So it’s kind of crazy that now I regularly speak on stage in front of large audiences. Sometimes, that audience is my own company. This week, I’m on a team retreat with most of our 83-person team. At ConvertKit (soon to be Kit), we host two annual retreats every year. It’s an important part of our company culture, especially as a fully remote team. I was thinking back to our first retreat in 2016...
